Jon "FIG JAM" Caldwell
Jon stands 6’2", and would be an imposing figure, except for the extra padding around his middle section. His blond hair is sometimes a little longer than one would expect, but that’s because he only gets haircuts every 2-3 months. He is usually easy to find in a crowd, not only because of his height, but he is generally the loudest in the room. He practices the art of the “humble-brag” more than his squadron mates would like, but he seems to make a few of them laugh enough to cover any immediate weaknesses in his personality.
When not in his sparsely decorated uniform, Jon’s civilian attire usually consists of shorts, jeans, and bird-related shirts.
Jon was born and raised in Columbia, MD. His mother had a successful career as a realtor, and his father was an Assistant Dean at the University of Maryland at the time. As their only child, Jon never had any unfulfilled material wants, even during the GCW. He took advantage of tuition remission, and got a degree in Education in 2007 – he went for the easiest degree he could find, to take his mind off his parents’ messy divorce, and his father’s aspiringl political goals.
Instead of looking for a teaching job, he used his interests in computers to get a job providing tech support in his father’s college at the university. He did this for two years before he got into a big argument with his father while on a birdwatching trip, and quit his job.
He graduated from the RDF Academy in 2008, and completed his pilot training at NAS Whiting Field in Florida the following year. He was the honor graduate in his class after the #1 student pilot was injured before graduation and had to be recycled. He, of course, let everyone know that he should have been honor graduate regardless.
He was promoted to SPC while undergoing RDF Veritech training with the 56th Combined Arms Operations Group.
His call sign came about after two bottles of wine and an hours-long Sony Playstation2 session had him proclaiming, “Fuck, I’m good! Just ask me!”
